Tim was one of a kind! I got to work with Tim for a year when he came to live and serve in Taiwan. Tim brought so much joy to our team! As a team, we would make dinners every night and eat together. I always looked forward to Tim coming and sharing with us all the fun stories that he had experienced throughout the day. Tim would make us laugh so much. Tim didn’t have a dull life. He always had something to share about something funny, interesting or exciting happening to him. I loved listening to his childhood stories as well as the ones he shared about Taiwan and the different mission trips he took.
During the time that we were both in Taiwan together, I had a dream of opening up a restaurant, and I still would love to do that someday. I was learning to cook different kinds of cuisines, and Tim would always encourage me that he really liked my cooking. Tim loved to eat, and he would finish everything!
Tim was a dear friend who stayed in contact with me over the years, even after he left Taiwan. He joked about one day getting a private jet and flying me back and forth from Taiwan to America to visit my family. I also really enjoyed staying up late together as a team, with Tim sharing life experiences with us and giving us advice.
Even though Tim was younger than me, I always looked up to him as an older brother. Tim is greatly missed and I’m thankful that he is with our Savior, Jesus Christ. Tim taught me to have joy in the Lord and to not worry about things we can’t control. Tim taught me through his life and his testimony to love the Lord and to love people (everyone), not just the easy ones but the difficult ones as well.
Tim also taught me to encourage others. He was always doing that for each of us on the team. He was good at that. I’m thankful that I got to meet Tim and work with him for a year in Taiwan. Even though we weren’t in the same country, he still reached out to me and gave me advice and encouragement throughout the years.
Tim, thanks for being an awesome friend and an “older” brother to me. Keep the stories going on in Heaven, and when we get up there with you, be ready to share them with us over a meal together.
